I felt so happy when my mother-in-law hugged me, her eyes full of tears. People online called me a “gold-digger” and “bead-wearing family breaker,” and it hurt a lot. But her love made me feel better, even with all the drama. She said, “You’re okay,” and it shut out the noise. I meet with the family, they are so loving and hospitable. Even when we were in Benue, I felt like not to leave, I felt so comfortable and how the villagers where coming out to welcome us, it’s indeed a home that I will stay forever.

I’ve been married since 2013. Yes, my husband had his faults, but most of the people who painted him black encouraged me to leave the marriage. Some of those pieces of advice didn’t come from a place of love. Some people just wanted me out so they could replace me. I can’t say for sure, but I know a lot happened immediately after I left. I found out that those who gave me advice started visiting my home without me, even though they never did when I was there.I chose to leave because things got really tough, but there were many external contributions.
