Egyptian Hamada has been declared the winner of the inaugural Hajj Quran Contest.

Egyptian scholar Hamada Muhammad al-Sayyid has secured first place in the first-ever Quran memorization competition for Hajj pilgrims, which took place at the Grand Mosque in Makkah in June 2025.
The event, organized by the General Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, attracted over a thousand participants from around the world, who were guests of the House of God and traveled to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.
Al-Sayyid, who is a faculty member at the Faculty of Quranic Recitations and Quranic Sciences at Al-Azhar University in Tanta, Egypt, achieved first place in the category for memorizing the entire Quran. He was the sole Egyptian among the 18 winners across various categories.
A special ceremony was held at the Grand Mosque to honor the winners, who received commemorative prizes. Sheikh Maher al-Muaiqly, the Imam of the Grand Mosque, presented the top awards on behalf of the presidency.
The competition included several categories, such as full and half Quran memorization, as well as Quranic recitation.
This event highlights and celebrates Quranic excellence among Hajj pilgrims while also emphasizing the spiritual significance of the Quran during this sacred journey.
This year's Hajj witnessed the participation of over 1.7 million pilgrims from around the world.
