Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has issued a clear message to the club’s rivals ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, declaring that “anything can happen” in tournament football as the Blues aim to conquer the global stage, according to All Nigeria Soccer.
Adarabioyo, who was instrumental in Chelsea’s resurgent 2024/25 campaign, expressed confidence in the squad’s form and preparation under new manager Enzo Maresca. The centre-back credited the team’s high-intensity training and collective maturity as key factors that have positioned them to challenge the world’s elite clubs.
“Just pushing on every day, I think,” Adarabioyo told FIFA’s official website. “Training sessions every single day have been at a high level. We are a mature bunch of boys and performed at a high level throughout the season. We managed to hit our objectives.”
Under Maresca’s guidance, Chelsea secured UEFA Champions League qualification and lifted the UEFA Conference League trophy, marking a successful start to the Italian coach’s tenure. Adarabioyo praised Maresca’s transformative impact, stating, “He’s implemented his philosophy into the club and into the team which we’ve all bought into, and as you can see we’ve had some fantastic results.”
Chelsea will compete in Group D of the Club World Cup, facing Los Angeles FC, CR Flamengo, and Espérance. Despite acknowledging the strength of their opponents, Adarabioyo warned that the nature of tournament football makes every outcome possible.
The former Fulham and Manchester City man also expressed excitement about playing in the U.S., highlighting the opportunity to engage with Chelsea’s growing American fanbase.
Chelsea’s campaign kicks off on June 16 against LAFC in Atlanta, with the team aiming to add a first-ever Club World Cup title to their international trophy cabinet.
