While He Was Receiving Call, Some Boys Arrived On Motorcycle, One Of The Boys Came And Shot Him-Witness
Bode Akinsiku
Unidentified assailants in Ondo State shot and killed a 56-year-old man named Bode Akinsiku in the early hours of Tuesday, June 11, 2025, according to a story in the Daily Post. Akinsiku was reportedly a well-known drug dealer in the area. Eyewitnesses say that Akinsiku had been to a neighbourhood pub to meet with a few people when the event happened.
According to an anonymous source, Akinsiku was engaging in a conversation when his phone rang. He was chatting with a bunch of people at the bar when his phone started ringing. Two young men rode up on motorcycles just as he was finishing his response, the person said. "One of them went up to him and demanded to know his name. They got into a disagreement, and it got out of hand fast.
When the suspect allegedly drew a gun and shot Akinsiku several times from close range, the altercation allegedly escalated into violence, according to eyewitnesses. According to reports, the perpetrator then rode away on a waiting motorbike after shooting nearby civilians before crossing the street and shooting into the air to disperse them.
No official comment has been issued by the Ondo State Police Command regarding the death as of yet, but there are reports that investigations are currently underway to find and arrest the perpetrators. Allegedly involved in drug-related activities in the state, Akinsiku had been on the radar of police enforcement.
Whether his purported criminal links or a personal quarrel were the driving forces behind the murder is still up for debate. There is a lot of stress in the neighbourhood after the violent incident; locals are demanding more protection and quick punishment. Police are already conducting an investigation, and community leaders have also asked anyone with information to contact them.
